A Call to Protect Life in All Its Forms

May 22, 2025

At Indago Research, we recognize that the health of people is deeply connected to the health of the planet. On this International Day for Biological Diversity, we join the global community in raising awareness about the vital importance of biodiversity,  not just for nature, but for human well-being, medical advancement, and sustainable development.

Biodiversity is Life

Biodiversity encompasses the wide variety of plants, animals, microorganisms, and ecosystems that make up our natural world. It plays a critical role in maintaining ecological balance, ensuring food security, and providing the raw materials for medical discoveries; many of which form the foundation of modern pharmaceutical research.

As a clinical research organization, we are acutely aware of how many groundbreaking treatments and life-saving therapies are derived from nature. From aspirin, originally sourced from willow bark, to cancer treatments originating from the rosy periwinkle, biodiversity has long served as nature’s own medicine cabinet. Its preservation is not only a moral imperative but a scientific one.

Biodiversity and Clinical Research

At Indago, our work is guided by evidence based practices and ethical research standards, and we understand that human health does not exist in isolation. Emerging diseases, zoonotic spillovers, and antimicrobial resistance all have strong ties to biodiversity loss and ecosystem disruption. In preserving biological diversity, we’re also investing in preventive healthcare and resilient communities.

This year’s theme, “Be Part of the Plan”, serves as a reminder that everyone has a role to play, from global institutions to local research centers like ours. Through sustainable practices, environmentally conscious studies, and collaboration with experts in conservation biology and public health, we can support a healthier planet and a healthier humanity.

Our Commitment

At Indago Research, we are committed to:

  • Supporting clinical trials that incorporate environmental health considerations.

  • Partnering with organizations and sponsors that prioritize sustainability.

  • Educating our team and community about the interdependence of biodiversity and health.

Looking Ahead

As we celebrate this day, let it renew our commitment to safeguarding life in all its forms. Let us continue to innovate, investigate, and heal — with the understanding that every species, every genome, and every ecosystem plays a part in the story of human progress.

Together, let’s be part of the plan for a more biodiverse, equitable, and healthier world.
