Signs You Have a Weakened Immune System

January 9, 2018

We all know that poor nutrition, stress, lack of sleep, smoking, consuming alcohol, and other underlying health concerns may decrease our immune systems but if you’re suffering from any of the six symptoms mentioned below and you aren’t sure why, it might be possible that your immune system isn’t functioning properly.

Stomach disorders

Your digestive system, which includes your intestines, houses a substantial portion of your immune system. If you’re always experiencing stomach issues like constipation, diarrhea, or gas, it might be a sign that something is wrong with your immune system. This is certainly relevant if the problems persist for several weeks.

In many situations, it indicates a lack of beneficial microorganisms in your stomach. Taking a supplement may be beneficial, but before taking any medication, see your primary care practitioner first.

Frequent colds per year

Every year, the average person has one or two colds. If you have more than three, your immune system may be compromised. If you just have two or three but don’t feel better after a week or ten days each time, it might be an indication of a weakened immune system.

Commons Fatigue

Most of us have hectic schedules. It’s typical to be fatigued and anxious from time to time, but the cause might be your immune system if you’re feeling this way regularly and a good night’s sleep is still not helping. That’s also applicable if you are easily drained. Try to modify your sleeping patterns. Take a break from work or other stressful situations. Make time for activities that you like. If you still don’t feel like you have any energy, it’s advisable to see a doctor.

Issues with wound healing

Everyone occasionally burns their fingers while cooking or scratches their foot on the cement. Small wounds, such as burns, cuts, scratches, and punctures, should recover in five days or less. If your wounds take significantly longer to heal than that, your immune system may be compromised. Probably, it won’t be able to assist your skin cells in regenerating as rapidly as they should.

Recurring Infections

You’ll have a tougher time battling illnesses if your immune system is weak. Urinary tract infections (UTIs), sinus infections, pneumonia, and infections in small scrapes and wounds are some examples. In persons with weakened immune systems, fungal diseases such as thrush or yeast are also very frequent.

Unhealthy habits

Any of these symptoms may or may not be present. However, if you don’t live a healthy lifestyle, your immune system may not be as effective as it may be.
People who smoke or use excessive amounts of alcohol frequently fall into this group. You’re also in danger if you eat an unhealthy diet or are overweight. A weakened immune system can also be caused by not getting enough sleep or exercise. Even poor hygiene, such as not cleaning your teeth regularly, can have a negative impact on your health.
Make every effort to develop healthy behaviors that could support the strengthening of your immune system.
