Are you at risk of heart attack, stroke, or other heart disease?
Researchers are conducting a new clinical research study designed to see if an investigational drug helps reduce the risk of future cardiovascular events, such as heart attacks and strokes.
You may be qualified to join if you are 40 years of age or older and are at risk for heart disease. The goal of the study is to see if an investigational drug that lowers bad cholesterol levels (LDL-C) may reduce the risk of cardiovascular events such as heart attacks, strokes or heart bypass surgery/coronary artery stent procedures.
You will be closely monitored by the study team. Participation is voluntary.
If you are determined to be eligible and agree to participate in the study, your participation is expected to take between 3 and 5 years.
● 4 study visits in the first year
● Only 2 visits in each of the following years
● 1 phone visit at the end of your participation
● During the visits, the doctor will ask you questions about your health, examine you, run some blood, urine, and imaging tests, give you the study drugs, and you will answer some questionnaires
Who can participate:
● You are 40 years of age or older
● You are at high risk for cardiovascular disease
Please discuss with your study doctor.
Every clinical study has its own benefits and risks.
Benefits:
● You might help others who have the same disease by helping to advance research.
● You could get an investigational treatment that is not available outside of the clinical study.
● You may increase oversight of your healthcare needs.
Risks:
● The investigational treatment may have unknown side effects or other risks.
● The investigational treatment may not work for you.
● You may need to have more doctor visits and lab tests.
Please discuss with your study doctor.
Compensation
You do not have to pay for the investigational study drug, or study procedures that are not part of your routine medical care.
Compensation for travel and expenses may be available.
Please discuss compensation with your study doctor
